Sustainability
Campus Initiatives
As a guest, it is easy to make smart environmental choices when you dine at a Sodexo café. We know today's college students want to do the right thing for the planet and we also understand you lead busy lives, so your Sodexo chefs and managers do a lot of the work for you behind the scenes. Please see some of our exciting efforts below!
Composting
Compost is created from organic matter that has been decomposed into a rich soil amendment. Hubbell Dining Hall takes part in composting to reduce waste in the landfills.
Trayless Dining
Trayless dining saves thousands of gallons of water and reduces electricity and chemical use for cleaning the trays.
Biodegradable Utensils in Hubbell Dining
Environmentally friendly silverware that can be put in the compost bin and breaks down within one to five years.
Reusable To-Go Containers in Hubbell Dining
Hubbell Dining allows customers to take their meals to go in an environmentally friendly, reusable container.
Reusable Coffee Mugs
Reusable ceramic coffee mugs are available to use in our Coffee Shop. This reduces paper waste from disposable cups for guests dining in our coffee shops.
Food Recovery
Drake Dining works with student group Next Course to send uneaten food to local shelters.
Partnership with local and environmentally friendly companies
Partnerships with local/regional suppliers and vendors in which Sodexo encourages our suppliers to enhance, protect and restore the environment. In addition, requiring all manufacturers to adhere to the guidelines contained in our Supplier Code of Conduct.
